Tony’s Story on Vivaldi

You might have seen a red little creature popping around in the Vivaldi browser. Ever wondered what it is? His name is Tony and he’s a lava ball that’s still making his way around the browser.

Right now, you can find him hiding in the Vivaldi Mail tab, where he’ll greet you and let you know that Mail is a future product, as well as on error pages when web pages you request are not accessible

So why is Tony a lava ball instead of say, a monster or other creature? Because Iceland is full of volcanos and the Vivaldi team is also in Iceland! Tony represents both Vivaldi (red brand color) and the browser’s birthplace (Iceland!).

Tony’s role at Vivaldi is to make browsing the web fun. Though you don’t see him as much around Vivaldi right now, the design team is brainstorming a couple more ways to incorporate him into the browser. Think of it almost like hide and seek!

Is there anything more you’d like to know about Tony? Let us know, and we can answer them for you!

  1. Какое домашнее животное приносит ему почту, собака или голубь? 🙂

  2. Hi MoonDawg, thank you for the suggestion! This is definitely something I will keep in mind for future blog entries 🙂 I am currently working with the team on some fun blogs for Vivaldi! Stay tuned for more.

    Best,

  3. I have an idea where charming Tony also could appear. Vivaldi Mail is missing a welcome message ( there is only a mail for identification ).
It would be nice if Tony welcomes the webmail users in a welcome message and tell them some important informations like setup details for Desktop mail clients & features + functionality of Vivaldi Mail 🙂

  4. I’ve noticed that when I can’t connect to the internet, Tony likes to jump over cacti. Are there a lot of cacti in Iceland?

Also, why is he called Tony?
